If you have an EMT16X - Needle Plate Trimmer (NPT), and your machine is Missing Trims or is fraying and not cutting the top thread, follow the instructions below:
Half Trimmed Top Thread
1. Update your software to the most recent software version.
3. Check the Log for any errors, for example Selector Timeout trying To Find Home Position.
4. Follow the steps for the Rotary Hook Maintenance. Tools > Settings... > Timers > and click the Step button for the Rotary Hook Maintenance.
5. If available, swap the Needle Plate Assembly (NPT) out with another. The Movable Blade PN: 35659 or the Needle Plate Assembly PN: 35075 might need replacing.
6. Check the Digitizing. A low stitch count between trims could lead to missed trims.
7. Follow the steps for Setting Connecting Link Assembly to Home.
10. Check your Acti-Feed.
11 Check your Hook Adjustments. For EMT16Plus and EMT16*
12. The NPT Connecting Link Assembly (P/N: 35315) or NPT Motor Assembly (P/N: 35277) might need to be replaced. To confirm that you will need to obtain additional technical assistance. Here are the available Melco Technical Support options.
13. If the situation remains unresolved, you will need additional technical assistance. Here are the available Melco Technical Support options.
- Check the NPT Motor Assembly To Machined Lower Arm Gap. This is unlikely to be incorrect unless the NPT Motor was replaced.
- If the Cut, Select, Home functions do not move as expected, you might need to Re-Flash the Main PCB.
- Uncheck Tools > Maintenance > Steppers > 'Disable NPT Trimmer Sensor'.
