Troubleshooting Puckering

 

 

Puckering describes when fabric gets pulled in toward stitches. All fabrics will be affected by pull, however you can often reduce the amount of pull with good digitizing and application choices.

  1. Update your software to the most recent software version

 

  1. Check your Bobbin.

 

  1. Check your Presser-Foot.

 

  1. Check your Acti-Feed.

  1. Check the Backing.

 

  1. Check the Hooping. The fabric might be hooped too tight.

 

  1. Check the Digitization.

 

  1. Make sure a Thread Feed Forward 200 Test completes successfully.

 

  1. Try a Feeder Profile Test.

 

  1. Consider if pre-treating the fabric with Terial Magic would be appropriate for the application.

 

  1. If the situation remains unresolved, you will need additional technical assistance. Here are the available Melco Technical Support

 

Post-Sew:

  1. Flip the embroidery product faced down so the backing is faced up.
  2. Lay the fabric on a cushiony surface, for example a Wool Mat or several layers of fabric.
  3. Spray the fabric with a Spray Starch, for example Terial Magic.
  4. Iron the fabric. Press around and into the fabric where it had puckered.
