Needle Stuck/Z Bind during 30,000,000 maintenance (Step 4-7)

If your needle is stuck down after the 30 million stitch maintenance, it might be because the Presser Foot is catching and locked on the Connecting Rod or the Presser Foot is binding on the Needle Block Clamp. Follow the steps below to fix this issue. If your needle is stuck down and you were not doing the 30 million stitch maintenance, check for a Z Bind.

1.  Push in the Emergency Stop Button. The light on the Keypad should be solid red.  For the following steps, it is important your machine does not move.

CAUTION!! If your machine color changes without the Right Upper Arm Front Cover in place, damage to your machine will occur and a service call will be necessary, Melco will not be responsible for any damage to the machine or related service costs caused by not performing this step.

2.  Remove the Upper Arm Right Front Cover. It is attached with 5 screws.

3.  The first spot to check for a bind, is the white plastic Upper Presser Foot Bearing on the top of the Connecting Rod. To release this bind, push up on the Presser-foot and rotate the Z Shaft slightly.

4.  The second place to check for a bind, is the Presser Foot binding on the Needle Block Clamp. To release this bind, pull the Presser Foot back and out of the way of the Needle Block Clamp.

5.  Check for and resolve both binds at the same time to resolve the Z Bind.

6.  After the Z Bind has been freed, reinstalled the Upper Arm Right Front Cover with its 5 screws. It is important to leave them just loose enough that the cover can still move, but make sure that the screws are far enough in that they will not catch the Needlecase as it moves over them.

CAUTION!! If you proceed without mounting the Right Upper Arm Front Cover, damage to your machine will occur and a service call will be necessary, Melco will not be responsible for any damage to the machine or related service costs caused by not performing this step.

7.  Release the Emergency Stop Button.

 9.  Tighten the two screws on the right side of the Upper Arm Right Front Cover.
