Network Ethernet Adapter Disappears on HP Laptop

This information is specifically from an HP Pavilion dv7, but should also apply to similar HP laptop models.

Two HP LAN Adapter settings should be disabled, one in the BIOS and one in Windows' Control Panel:

BIOS (Hit F10 during boot):

Under System Configuration, change LAN Power Saving to Disabled

Windows' Control Panel:

Open the Network and Sharing Center - Change Adapter Settings - right-click on the Ethernet Adapter and select Properties. Click the Configure button - Advanced - and select Green Ethernet - change value to Disabled.

After those changes are made, launch the Melco/Bravo/Amaya OS software and then turn on the machine.
