"Bad Image" error message when opening Melco OS, Bravo OS or DesignShop

If you receive a "Bad Image" error message appearing when trying to run Melco OS, Bravo OS, or DesignShop software on computers using McAfee Anti-Virus (Anti-Malware) software.  We suspect that a recent update of the McAfee software is the source of this failure.

POSSIBLE RESOLUTION: In multiple cases, the resolution is to Uninstall the Melco software within Windows' Control Panel - Programs and Features.  After the Uninstall is complete, re-install the Melco software from DVD or from Download.

Disabling McAfee software has not provided a resolution.

Here are some of the various errors being encountered:

Another possible resolution is to disable the Windows' User Account Control (UAC) notification...formerly known as Limited User Account - (LUA):

The instructions below detail a change within the Windows Registry.  This change should only be made by someone who is experienced with making Registry modifications.

  1. In the Windows Registry (REGEDIT),
  2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
  3. Change the EnableLUA value from 1 to 0
  4. You must then restart Windows (as prompted).

After restarting Windows, the Melco program should run properly.
